Princeton resident Carol Golden, who served as board chair for six years and also as a volunteer executive director until the appointment of Gittleman in a salaried capacity in July, 2021, will remain on the board as an advisor.
So...I'm saying whoa - all kinds of unusual activities going on here while recognizing I certainly don't have all the background. But's let's unpack for a moment.
- An interim board chair
- Current board chair staying on board as "just a member"
- Former Board chair served for 6 years in position
- Former Board chair was also volunteer exec until new director.
See any challenges here? I am imagining this is a young organization having just hired it's first-time exec and that the former board member is also a founder. Clearly no succession plan and also no bench strength for moving folks up into leadership. And maybe some recruitment challenges. All variables for learning but hopefully sooner than later. Time to start thinking about governance for the future.
