From the Chronicle of Philanthropy - an idea for recruiting younger folks who are not generally in the pipeline for joining your board. The group in the video called this group a Junior Board - no fiduciary duties, "god parents" previously board members, and activities that focus on networking, fund raising and relationships - with each other and the nonprofit. Another group is being formed to create a more direct path to the board of directors being individually partnered with board members, serving on committees and basically being prepped and also raising money.
