The Christian Science Monitor is reporting that Sesame Street is approaching a rare milestone: 1 Billion Youtube viewers.
Hoorary for Sesame Street! I guess. But to be honest, I don't think I understand the "so-what" of this achievement. The Monitor says it's a big deal and particularly so for a nonprofit. The Monitor says that part of the so-what is that this achievement reflects a new trend toward the "multimedia nature of kids entertainment".
Really? So what's the strategy? Get more play "eyes" so to speak and get closer to achieving mission and in turn, appeal to more sponsors which in turn means more money to do more mission? And what exactly did Sesame Street do to achieve this milestone? Knowing this "secret" -- that would be a lesson that could benefit the whole nonprofit sector.
