Why do these stories continue to occur? At least they continue to provide lessons for nonprofit managers and boards!
Today's story centers around Madonna (the singer etc) and her effort to build a school in Malawi. Today, after a whole lot of money, there remains no school. The money is largely unaccounted for, and there are an unusual number of confidentiality agreements which help to cover-up the facts which could provide lessons for the rest of us.
Anyway, this whole saga becomes something more appropriate for reporting by E or the like, but for sure, we shoudn't allow gross failures of governance, never mind gross failures in management to be kept behind closed doors.
