I recently heard about a former nonprofit Chair and founder who remains on the board of the organization and who doesn't like a decision recently voted on for the third time. The Chair wants to turn to an attorney for his grievance. I'm not really clear about the injury, but anyone is welcome to sue.
Of course one reasonable first step -- check the by-laws for term limits -- if there aren't any -- add some. This of course is not a short-term but longer-term solution to the problem. One might suggest a vote to remove the person in question but that certainly raises its own issues. The person in question is also the founder -- respect may be in order.
But the will of the board has been clearly expressed. Is removal the only answer?
Your thoughts welcome.
