In Governing Magazine's December 2010 PlayBook under Play 8, Grooming the Next Generation, Stephen Goldsmith, deputy mayor for Operations for New York City states: "Students want to go to nonprofits because they see that as a way to make a difference. They don't see government as a way to make a difference".
And yet, government is expected to make a difference especially by the many nonprofits who advocate for such responsibility. Should nonprofit boards and staff reframe their own thinking about their expectations of government? What does your nonprofit's theory of change say in this regard?
