At its annual meeting today the members of the Alliance for Nonprofit Management (the "tent" for all those who focus on increasing the capacity of nonprofits to succeed) began to implement a new framework for nonprofit governing called Engagement Governance. Engagement Governance is focused on fully involving a nonprofit's constituents in the governance of their nonprofit.
Today's first engagement focused on members' taking a prominent role in shaping the direction of the future of the Alliance. Whether members present left feeling fully engaged will be better discerned from their evaluations of the session, their future participation in continued discussions, and more importantly, by the extent of their ongoing engagement through lending of their time and expertise.
