What happens when there's no or few nonprofits, no city and no corporate?
Surprisingly, a lot can happen and does in Detroit where private citizens (the 4th sector?) are taking conditions into their own hands and trying to run the race against abandoned and deteriating property. And yes, there are some nonprofits and some city support but not enough to win against the size of the problem. So, private citizens have stepped in to do what needs to be done.
Is this a model for how the cities of the future will be serviced? Well, to some extent, I hope not. On the other hand, back in the day (way before I was born), isn't that how things used to be run?
