Whatever the ACORN Board and its friends are doing to redeem or even save the organization, it appears not to be working. Today, the US Senate has voted against ACORN, again. And yes, it can get even worse with a possible investigation looming.
Now if I were the Board....hm..... And what should the Board have done by now? Well, clean house perhaps? Get new board members? Get its members around the country mobilized to say ACORN is not such a bad entity?
But maybe it's just toooooo late and really, time to get packing, look for some partners to take over the work and ride out of town.
And are there lessons? Quite a few, beginning with having a board that understands how to provide oversight effectively and hold management fully accountable so it too can be fully accountable. I'm sure there's even more lessons here but that's a pretty good starting point.
