Model nonprofit board member? Take a look:
Approachable and down-to-earth, Ballweg is also a pilot, teacher, musician and mother. But she’s best known for the nonprofit boards she serves on — sometimes as many as two dozen in a year — and for the gifts she has made from her own pocket, resulting in projects that often bear her name.
Among those in Madison who donate both money and time, “She has to be first,” said Mary Ellyn Sensenbrenner, a friend who has served with Ballweg on many nonprofit boards.
“She spends time and energy raising money and being involved in the organizations she’s part of. She doesn’t just serve on the boards,” Sensenbrenner said. “She takes an active role. And how she does it is truly remarkable – that she could do all these things and still maintain a fun, active social life. I don’t know if she ever sleeps.” (Wisconsin State Journal)
