Nonprofits just aren't doing it right says the folks in Silicon Valley (the new business tycoons). According to the Christian Science Monitor, Silicon Valley entrepreneurs are "frustrated with slow and inefficient non-profits". Not to worry though, they can be fixed.
The Silicon Valley entrepreneurs "are bringing about fresh approaches to solving vexing social issues, such as helping the poor and reimagining how students are educated. And they aren't just bringing money. Social entrepreneurs are bringing their business skills – everything from marketing to operations, along with their enthusiasm and business drive – to transform many nonprofits into savvy, goal-focused businesses.
And, to top it off, "donors are demanding more research and metrics before funding projects." And then, there's the nonprofits that should just do what they do best (you remember, the Jim Collins among others principle).
So, as the cycle comes back around again, can business and business ways provide the solution to "saving" the nonprofit community and thus saving the world? Hmmm.....
